A Desperate Plea

For the second time since dawn,
the kidney specialist drags his
arrogance into the isolated room;

pulls a large chair with loose
arms, reluctantly sits on the torn
leather-like vinyl, with a shallow

breath strokes both hands across
his salted dark hair, fanning light
sweat with crumpling lab results;

“we don’t know… just don’t know”
sends a high volt through me and
I swear him to tunnel throughout

this Earth to find a cure…it’s your
duty I whisper to myself, aware of

my son’s condition, beyond prayers.
